Quick Answers for Curious Gardeners

Sometimes it’s the little things that make you pause — so we’ve gathered a few common
questions to help you feel calm, clear, and ready to go.

How long does the battery take to charge — and how long will it last?

Both batteries charge fully in about 1 to 1.5 hours — and yes, they charge at the same time thanks to the dual battery fast charger we include. Just plug them in, potter around the garden, and come back ready to prune.

As for runtime? It depends on how hard they’re working. Like us, the tool uses more energy for tougher tasks — but for typical garden pruning, each battery gives about 25–35 minutes of continuous use. With two batteries in your kit, you’re well covered for over an hour of solid cutting — more than enough for a weekend refresh… or a helping hand next door

Can I leave the battery on the charger overnight?

We highly recommend unplugging once fully charged. It helps keep the battery in great shape for years to come.

Think of it like a gentle habit: charge when you're around, unplug when it’s done, and you’re always ready to prune.

What kind of oil should I use — and how often?

You’ll need bar and chain lubricant oil — the kind designed to keep pruning tools running smooth. It’s widely available at Bunnings, Mitre 10, and most garden or hardware stores. If you’re unsure which oil to grab, our support team is happy to point you in the right direction — just reach out and we’ll help you find a match.

As for how often:

Pruning or light work: 2–3 pumps

Thicker branches or tree lopping: 3–4 pumps

Longer sessions: Check the oil level every 20–30 minutes and give 2 extra pumps if needed

💡 First time using it? Pump 3–4 times before your first cut to get the oil flowing and protect the chain.

The chain feels loose — what should I do?

It’s normal for the chain to loosen a little, especially after the first few uses. Luckily, your Branch Boss has a no-tool chain tensioning system — so you can adjust it quickly by hand, no spanners or screwdrivers needed.

For a simple visual guide, check out the How-To video or the one-page manual — both walk you through the exact steps, with zero guesswork.

It’s cutting slower than usual — what should I check?

Here are a few quick things to look at:

Is the battery fully charged? Low power can slow things down.

Is the chain tension correct? If it’s too loose, it won’t cut efficiently.

Have you oiled the chain? Friction can be a hidden drag.

Is the chain starting to dull? It might be time to switch to your spare.

If everything checks out but it’s still not right, don’t worry — just contact our support team. We’ll help you sort it quickly so you can get back to smooth, satisfying cuts.

Can I store the tool with the battery and oil filled ?

For short breaks between uses, it’s okay to leave everything in place. But as a good habit, we always recommend removing the battery when the tool’s not in use — just for peace of mind.

The Branch Boss won’t start without both the safety button and trigger pressed together, but it’s still best to store it safely — especially around kids or pets.

As for the oil:

✅ It’s safe to leave in the tank — there’s no risk of leakage during regular storage.

But if you’re putting the tool away for a few months or more, it’s a good idea to empty the oil, wipe it down, and give it a fresh start when you’re ready to go again.

This keeps your kit in great shape and ready to go when nature calls.
